IMAGE SKINCARE
You can be forgiven if news of another skincare range causes as much emotional response as poker players studying their hands. This time, however, there is a line being imported from Florida with products that may raise a smile. Skin Geeks is distributing Image Skincare, professional products grouped by function for the needs of physicians' and aestheticians' clients.
Image Skincare describes its groups as Ageless, Vital C, Ormedic, Clear Cell Sun, Body Spa and Professional Treatments. Briefly, Ageless comprises 11 products ranging from facial cleanser and eyelift cleaner to a retinol cram to a cream for lightening facial and body discolourations for application by physicians. Central to Ageless is a complex that blends plant-derived stem cells and nutripeptides to plump the skin.
We tried Total Anti-Aging Serum, a formulation of alpha hydroxy acid combined with apple stem cells, which is massaged into the skin in the morning and evening after cleansing. Total Anti-Ageing tingled the skin on application and created a reassuring feeling. A pleasant product to use.
Among the Vital C products, devised for "environmentally damaged and sensitive rosacea-prone skin," one tester called Hydrating Anti Aging Serum her favourite from the Vital C line. "When applying the lotion on my skin, the absorption was quick and there was no greasy coat-effect. The feeling on dry skin was of immediate relief and nourishment."
The Hydrating Facial Cleanser was adjudged perfect to use in the morning. "It left a pleasant, soft feeling and relaxed skin." The Hydrating Repair Cream, the tester said, has a different texture but it was not too dissimilar to other face lotions. Other Vital C products include an enzyme mask, eye recovery gel and vitamin serum to promote hydration.
The Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex is one of six from the Ormedic group, which Image describe as a synthesis of organic ingredients combined with medical effectiveness. Our tester said: "The product is a bit sticky on application. It works as a good-quality balm against wind and cold. The volume increase-feeling is perceptible during the first applications."
Clear Cell, for acne and oily skin, also has six products in its group. Salicylic Clarifying Tonic, a salicylic/glycolic toner for tackling oily skin, was chosen by our tester. "I felt the pores tighten as soon as put it on. When I felt my skin was breaking out it calmed it down and reduced the amount of oil. The only downside is that it dries out the skin, but this can be treated with moisturiser."
Of particular interest to physicians are Professional Treatments. These comprise acid peels, including a Jessner's Peel, that are worth checking out.
